The project "Towards precision medicine in stroke rehabilitation - levodopa and the significance of genetic modifiers of stroke recovery (The ESTREL-PRECISION study)" received funding from the renowned foundation.

Dr. Christopher Traenka and Prof. Dr. Stefan Engelter received support from the Swiss Heart Foundation on the topic of personalized stroke rehabilitation for the Basler Stroke Research Group. This will enable you to clarify, through genetic analysis of polymorphisms and copy number variants, whether drug support of rehabilitation after stroke with dopaminergic substances may be more successful in some patients than in others.

This project is part of the multicentre IICT research project ESTREL funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. ESTREL stands for Enhancement of Stroke Rehabilitation with Levodopa and is a randomized controlled trial that investigates whether the drug support of rehabilitative therapy in stroke rehabilitation with levodopa is effective and safe.
