1. Place for INPUT project at the EbM Congress 2025
Congratulations to Katja Suter and the team of the INPUT project at the DKF, which was honoured with the 1st prize in the poster competition of the 26th Annual Conference of the Network for Evidence-based Medicine (EbM Network).
The award ceremony took place last week as part of the EbM Congress 2025 in Freiburg. Three posters were selected from numerous submissions - based on criteria such as innovative content, methodological foundation, presentation quality and design.
The INPUT project
The winning poster presents the INPUT ("INvolving Patients and Participants") project, which was developed under the direction of Katja Suter at the Department of Clinical Research (DKF). Together with an interdisciplinary team, she investigated for the first time the experiences, motivations and information needs of people participating in clinical studies throughout Switzerland.
The survey was conducted in close collaboration with the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). The aim of the project is to systematically record the participants' perspectives in order to create evidence-based foundations for the further development of regulations on research involving humans.
Innovation and social relevance
The 1st place for Katja Suter and the DKF team recognizes not only the high academic quality of the project, but also its social relevance. The honour underscores the DKF's role as a driving force for patient-centered, evidence-based research in Switzerland.
Many thanks also go to all sponsors, sponsor-investigators and in particular the participating study teams, who made the implementation of the INPUT survey possible in the first place by actively inviting the study participants to take part.
Other award winners
In addition to the INPUT project, two other projects were honoured:
2nd place: "Dissemination of Open Data: experiences with the anonymization and further use of personal data - qualitative results of an expert survey in the EAsyAnon project" by Norbert Lichtenauer (Deggendorf Institute of Technology).
3rd place: "Information needs and preferences of men with breast cancer: a qualitative analysis of forum contributions" by Nicole Schemmel (Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin).
