The European Research Group, led by Alexandros Polymeris (Neurology, USB) and Stefan Engelter (Neurology/USB and Neuro-Rehabilitation/FELIX PLATTER), has investigated the prognostic significance of the occurrence of an epileptic seizure at the onset of stroke when patients are subsequently treated with i.v. thrombolysis. It was shown that an epileptic seizure at the onset of symptoms is no reason to withhold i.v. thrombolysis from patients.
