Developing a study database with REDCap®
With the validated REDCap® instances provided by the DKF, you can independently develop study databases that are compliant with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and meet legal requirements in case of inspections or audits. Use of REDCap® is free of charge for DKF research groups.
We provide you with:
Access to a validated version of REDCap® with regular updates and back-ups
Project templates with standard forms, e.g. for reporting SAEs, and standard roles
Template for a data management plan
Technical review of the database prior to the first go-live
You will be responsible for:
Development of the study database
Implementation of changes
When can it be useful to develop a study database yourself?
- When there is already a good understanding of clinical trial data management in the study team.
- If the research project is not too complex.
- When study participants are to enter data directly (online surveys).
- If you want to save costs.

PLEASE NOTE: This service is only available to researchers at the University Hospital Basel and at affiliated institutions. We will be happy to clarify whether your institution is entitled to use this service.
