Research Focus

Neurology

Area of Research

Acute cerebrovascular diseases and their management with focus on endovascular treatment and intravenous thrombolysis. Secondary Prevention of Stroke: randomized clinical trials, dyslipidemia, ideal time to start anticoagulant therapy after a stroke. Cohort studies on novel blood markers. Copeptin as first blood marker for prognosis after stroke and TIA. Prehospital stroke care networks to reduce delays. Safety and effectiveness of fast-track vs. open-end hospitalizations.

Approved Research Projects

  • AtheroGEnic LipoprotEinS in Ischemic Stroke - The AGELESS Study (Sponsor: Schweizerischer Nationalfond)
  • Serum Neurofilaments Light Chain in Acute Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack (cohort study).
