Clinical Research Day 2025
Thursday, 6 February 2025
11.15 - 17.15
University Hospital Basel
Kleiner Hörsaal, Zentrum für Lehre und Forschung (ZLF)
Dear colleagues
Clinical research is constantly facing new challenges, especially in the development of innovative therapies for diseases that are not necessarily the focus of attention. These include, in particular, neglected diseases that affect millions of people worldwide.
For the scientific kick-off of this year's Clinical Research Day, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Jennifer Keiser. Prof Keiser is Head of the Helminth Drug Development Unit at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and Professor of Neglected Tropical Diseases at the University of Basel. Her research focusses on the development of new drugs against parasitic worm infections, which affect over 1.5 billion people worldwide.
Prof Keiser has conducted phase 1-3 clinical trials in various endemic regions such as Côte d'Ivoire, Laos and Tanzania and has contributed significantly to the fight against these diseases through her international collaborations.
She will demonstrate how cutting-edge research is driving new therapeutic approaches and what challenges still exist to sustainably improve health in affected regions.
The subsequent scientific programme will focus on the department's young researchers, who will present their latest research work in oral, rapid-fire and poster presentations. A scientific jury will select the three best oral presenatations and the three best posters. The best rapid-fire presentation will be identified by public voting.
At the end, we will meet for an apero riche, the award ceremony and the opportunity for informal exchange and networking.
We are looking forward to a varied overview of current clinical research projects and an exciting and inspiring research day.
