Krankhaft verstopfte, feine Blutgefässe können genauso gut mit einem Ballon geöffnet werden wie mit einem Stent. Dies hat das Team um DKF Forschungsgruppenleiter Prof. Raban Jeger(Kardiologie/USB) in der «Basket-SMALL 2»-Studie gezeigt. Auch langfristig bringen beide Methoden gleich gute Resultate für die Patientinnen und Patienten. Die Gefäss-Behandlung mit Ballon hat den Vorteil, dass kein Implantat in das Blutgefäss eingesetzt werden muss.
